When can I purchase the Nintendo Switch 2 system on the official My Nintendo Store?

  • If you register your interest in purchasing a Nintendo Switch 2 system from My Nintendo Store and meet all eligibility criteria, you will be added to the queue of customers interested in purchasing the Nintendo Switch 2 system from My Nintendo Store. You will receive an invitation email when it is your turn to shop. You will have 72 hours from when the invitation email is sent to complete your purchase.

  • The first wave of invitations will go out May 8.

  • If you do not receive an invitation at this time, you will remain in the invitation queue. Additional invitations will be sent periodically via email until all eligible registrants receive an opportunity to purchase.

Due to a high volume of registrations and fluctuations in supply, Nintendo cannot guarantee a timeline for when invitations will be sent. My Nintendo Store will continue this invitation system past the system's launch date, until purchases are opened for everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will I be notified about my invitation to purchase Nintendo Switch 2?

  • Nintendo Account holders in the US and Canada who are at least 18 years old are eligible to register.

  • The first batch of invitations will go out starting May 8, 2025, with additional batches of invitation emails sent periodically until purchasing on My Nintendo Store is opened to everyone.

  • Initial invitation emails will be delivered on a first-come, first-serve basis to eligible registrants who meet the priority criteria. Invitees will have 72 hours from the time when the email is sent to complete their purchase.

  • Priority requirements are as follows: As of 4/2/2025, (i) you must have been the one who purchased any Nintendo Switch Online membership, (ii) you must have had any paid Nintendo Switch Online membership for a minimum of 12 months, and (iii) you must have opted in to share gameplay data and have at least 50 hours total gameplay hours.

Will I receive the Nintendo Switch 2 system purchased from the official My Nintendo Store on release day (June 5)? 

Release-day delivery is not guaranteed for orders that include the Nintendo Switch 2 system. You will be able to order Nintendo Switch 2 products from My Nintendo Store only after receiving an invitation email.

Your shipping date will be provided once you’ve placed your order.

Pre-orders are also available through select retailers that may offer release-day delivery. Please see individual retailers for details. If you pre-order or purchase Nintendo Switch 2 from a retailer and later receive an invitation to purchase Nintendo Switch 2 from My Nintendo Store, you are not required to purchase the system from My Nintendo Store.

What payment types are accepted and when do I pay?

  • The full payment will be required at time of checkout.

  • My Nintendo Store accepts Visa, Mastercard, Google Pay, and Apple Pay as payment methods.

  • Please note that My Nintendo Store does not accept Nintendo eShop gift cards.

Where do you ship? Can I pick up in-store?

  • Orders for Nintendo Switch 2 will ship to the U.S. (including U.S. territories and APO/FPO address) and Canada.

  • Shipping is available to P.O. Boxes in the U.S. and Canada.

  • My Nintendo Store orders cannot be picked up at retail locations (including the Nintendo NEW YORK or Nintendo SAN FRANCISCO stores).

When will I receive my Nintendo Switch 2 order?

  • Orders will be shipped after purchase. Your purchase window will be shown in your invitation email and your approximate ship date will be provided at time of ordering.

  • Please note that release-day delivery is not guaranteed due to processing and shipment times.

What should I do to prepare for my 72-hour purchase window?

  • Invitations will be sent from no-reply@noa.nintendo.com. Please be sure to add this address to your safe sender list, and check your inbox’s Junk, Spam, or Promotions folder.

  • Make sure that you can log in to My Nintendo Store using your Nintendo Account.

  • Invitations are non-transferrable. You will need to use the same Nintendo Account to checkout as when you registered.

  • Make sure to have the appropriate payment method available to complete your purchase. You will have 72 hours from the time the email is delivered to complete the purchase and can re-try payment if it is declined during that timeframe. If you don’t complete your purchase, your items will be removed from your My Nintendo Store cart at the end of the 72-hour window.

  • To ensure successful and secure delivery, please determine your shipping address ahead of time. Shipping address updates will be unavailable after your completed order has been shipped.

Can I purchase games and accessories, too?

  • My Nintendo Store will have a variety of additional items that can be included with your purchase of Nintendo Switch 2.

  • Please purchase all desired items in the same order during your 72-hour purchase window.

  • Limit one system and one of each accessory per purchase per eligible Nintendo Account during invitation period.
