The story of a hero to be

Years ago, the great hero Ortega bid farewell to his wife and child on a quest to defeat the villainous Archfiend Baramos. Ortega failed his quest, and Baramos still threatens the world. Now, on their 16th birthday, Ortega’s only child is summoned by the king of Aliahan and entrusted with a mission of the highest import: to take on Ortega’s quest, vanquish Baramos, and save the world.

Protagonist

You are the child of Ortega, known as the Hero of Aliahan. On the morning of your 16th birthday, you depart on a journey to fulfill your father’s dying wish of overthrowing the wicked King Baramos.

Male and female versions of the Warrior vocation. They wear bulky red armor around their shoulders

Warrior

Excellent damage dealers who can arm themselves with all sorts of powerful equipment. Their high HP allow them to protect their companions during fights too, making them great picks for party mainstays.

Male and female versions of the Warrior vocation. They wear signature green robes.

Martial Artist

Formidable combatants who are not only strong, but speedy to boot. They favor fighting with their fists or claws and can land lots of critical hits in battle.

Male and female versions of the Priest vocation. They are dressed in blue robes with holy insignia and hold a scepter.

Priest

A helpful healer who can recover allies’ HP and cure them of any nasty status ailments, like poison or paralysis. They can even resurrect fallen companions, too!

Male and female versions of the Mage vocation. Their magic rods

Mage

Capable conjurers who boast ample wisdom and equally ample MP. Not only can they hold their own against enemies with a myriad of offensive spells, they can also support their allies with incantations like Kabuff and Oomph.

Male and female versions of the Merchant vocation. They wear turbans and flowy clothing.

Merchant

Money makers who are experts at collecting gold coins and appraising items. Their unique skill set will come in handy both in battles and as you explore the world. They even occasionally pick up some extra gold coins post-battle.

Male and female versions of the Thief vocation. Their dark and sleek attire suggests that they are very sneaky.

Thief

Experts at sneaking past enemies and finding treasure in the darkest of dungeons. Thieves have an array of spells and abilities that aid the party during exploration. They can also unleash attacks that inflict status ailments. They might surprise you after battles by stealing something from a defeated enemy, too!

Male and female versions of the Gadabout vocation. The male version wears a pink-and-white-striped tragic clown outfit. The female version wears a blue bunny outfit with open shoulders.

Gadabout

Party animals who heal and support their allies with a range of abilities in battle. However, be warned: they're prone to acting out on their own, but this can sometimes have unexpected, positive results.

Sage

Only those who have undergone intense training and attained true enlightenment are ready to take on the Sage vocation. They are famed for their abundant MP and can wield both priest- and mage-specific spells.

Male and female versions of the Monster Wrangler vocation. They appear tough in their red and black outfits.

Monster Wrangler

Allies with this unconventional vocation do battle with an array of monstrous abilities. Not only can they learn attacks that deal damage to multiple enemies at once, they are also capable of using abilities to heal their companions.

DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake welcomes new and returning fans to experience the lore of a hero’s beginning with the first chronological game in the Erdrick Trilogy.

Explore all corners of a vast world. What mysteries await in the towns, castles, caves, and towers that you will discover? Perhaps the locals can provide a clue or two on how to solve some of the world's problems.

The player’s party of four takes on a group of four enemies in a turn-based battle. The player character awaits their command to be chosen from a classic menu.

Take on a wide variety of foes in classic turn-based gameplay. Use your allies’ unique skills and utilize your opponent’s weaknesses against them.

In a lush forest

Along your journey, you will meet recruitable friendly monsters. Measure your monsters' might in the Monster Arena tournaments and be well rewarded for winning.
